　　Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) agreed to acquire Denbury Resources Inc.'s (DNR) Bakken assets in North Dakota and Montana for $1.6 billion in cash, a move that increases its production acreage in the prolific oil shale region by nearly 50%.

　　Shares of Denbury recently jumped 8.1% to $18.08 premarket as the company will also get Exxon Mobil's interests in the Hartzog Draw field in Wyoming and Webster field in Texas, which produce about 3,600 net oil equivalent barrels a day of natural gas and liquids. The stock is up 11% since the start of the year.

　　The oil and natural gas companies said the Bakken assets include roughly 196,000 net acres in North Dakota and Montana with expected production of more than 15,000 oil equivalent barrels a day in the second half of 2012.
